Neela's Latest Artwork

Croup, Stitches, Rolling Over & Papa

How to describe this week? Brooke started with a cold at daycare last Friday, then Kylie woke up with a nasty cough Monday night. After listening to her "bark like a seal" (to quote Mommy's friend Kim), Mom & Dad called the nurse helpline -- and decided she must have croup. A 1 AM "steam bath" in Mom & Dad's bathtub with "Brooke's fish" spinning in the big tub - followed by sitting next to the window wearing Mommy's sweatshirt and blankets, and Kylie was asleep. The next night, everyone had a steam bath in the big tub... Neela LOVED swimming in the tub, sliding down the walls, and the bubbles. Daddy helped Brooke sit in the tub for a while, and Mommy gave Kylie another dose of the great outdoors...

Kylie slept 4 hours at daycare Wednesday, and started to come around Wednesday night... then it was Neela's turn to get the cough... Of course, Neela couldn't be outdone! Neela decided to climb on a chair in the toyroom while Daddy changed Brooke on Friday afternoon. Mommy came home, and was redirected to urgent care with a bleeding Neela... and our first "stitches" happened! The stitches are actually glue (similar to what Mommy had after her C-section), and Neela just doesn't want to keep her hands off it!!! In the midst of this, Daddy had to go to bowling... so Dominique came to the rescue! She played with Brooke and Kylie so they didn't have to go with to urgent care... thank you!!

Some time today, Brooke decided to show off her ability to roll back-to-front AND front-to-back. While Mommy isn't sure when she did it the first time, she did manage to pull it off while Mommy was picking up toys tonight -- and she was SOOO happy!

Finally, Papa came home last night from Honduras. He brought the big girls blue T-shirts from Honduras, and Brooke got a green t-shirt that says how much Papa loves her (and bought her something in Honduras!). Kylie & Neela got to go to McDonald's for breakfast with Papa - and this explains why Neela was at home today - instead of at daycare - when she cracked her lip open!

Here's hoping for a VERY QUIET weekend!

What's your name & address? Where's Papa?

Daddy has been working very closely with us... We can now tell you our address (the number AND the street), and we are working on the city :-)

Papa is on a mission trip in Honduras (or as Neela says "Hondaduras") - and we think it's great that he went on an airplane AND he left Grandma's red race car at our house! We also think it's great that Papa is helping build houses for little kids. When asked if Papa needs to build them a house, "No, silly, we already have a house!"

They seem to have this all figured out!

What's Brooke doing now?

Brooke is FASCINATED with her toes, now that she's found them!

Brooke tried peaches several times - at the same time as she had a nasty cough. We aren't sure if the cough led to her immediate dislike of the peaches, but she just didn't think they were good (yet)!

Brooke also has outgrown her bathtub, so she now gets to bathe in the Bumbo (and yes, we watch her VERY closely). She loves to sit between her big sisters and SPLASH, and they love to "help" her... they give her rubber duckies, wash clothes, and help Mommy with the soap. They also say "Be careful, I don't want to bump Brookie!".

Happy 3rd Birthday!!

Even though we had a big party, we still had some fun on our 3rd birthday!
At Tracy's, we had a party with all of our daycare friends! They sang "Happy Birthday" to us, and we brought the cookies we baked with Daddy (Snickerdoodle). We also brought Dora decorations, party hats and goodie bags. It was special!
Papa G. came with Mommy to help pick us up, and he helped us get ready for dance class at the Little Gym. At Little Gym, they sang "Happy Birthday" (again!).
After gym, we had pizza with Mom, Dad, Papa & Brooke... then we got ice cream, and our presents from Mom & Dad. Kylie got a princess tea set, and Neela got a princess hair set. We are doing great sharing them!
And... Mom also made us show how much we've grown! The outfits below are the one's we wore home from the hospital 3 years ago. Time sure flies!

Happy Valentine's Day!

We started our Valentine's Day making pink pancakes for breakfast - complete with red strawberries! Mommy even added chocolate chip hearts to the pancakes!
For lunch, we went to "the Cheeseburger Place" (Burger King) to have cheeseburgers - and climb in the "big tower". We were VERY tired when we left!

Kisses for Brooke's 1st Valentine's Day

A very happy Brooke with our friend Alana (from Canada)

Brooke's 1st Valentine's Day -- all smiles (what else???)

Our Valentine's Display...
We made cards for Mommy & Daddy at Tracy's, and the frogs were our Valentine bags! The candy jar was from Aunt Margaret, and Daddy took us to Tara's (Sweet Peas Floral) to buy the flowers... after we told one of the firefighter friends that we were going with Daddy to buy Mommy beer for Valentine's Day (Mommy doesn't like beer - we did buy the flowers and steak!).
Hope you had lots of love, smiles and kisses today!

Brooke's 5 Months Old

Brooke turned 5 months old on February 7 - and boy has it been a busy 5 months!
Brooke with the stuffed puppies Aunt Renee & Uncle David sent for Valentine's Day.
Brooke's sisters gave her the kitten - but the puppies loved looking at her!

Brooke tried bananas for the 1st time on February 7, and apples for the 1st time on February 12. She seemed to enjoy the apples MUCH MORE than the bananas :-)

Big Blue (?) eyes!

Smiling at Daddy

I LOVE balloons - I pull on the strings, watch them move, and smile at them! I also love it when my sisters run around with the balloons in front of me!
My last night in my Moses' basket was February 12 - I am just too tall for it. Unfortunately, I still love it - and don't WANT to sleep in my crib "all alone!".
And, this was also the first week I spent any nights away from Mommy - she went on a road trip to Ames, Iowa to bring Cyclones back to 3M... I got to stay home with Daddy, my sisters and Cy! We all survived - somehow!

Our 3rd Birthday Party

Our 3rd brithday party was a blast! We had 35 people there - 25 adults, 7 toddler/preschoolers, and 3 babies! Our Dora fiesta was fun for everyone who attended - we enjoyed our cake (it finally got here!), the singing balloons Aunt Heidi bought for us (they sang Happy Birthday & Feliz Cumpleanos), the party hats, and most of all... all the friends who celebrated with us!
Neela woke up, looked down the stairs, and saw the balloons! She looked at Mommy, and said "It's our birthday party!!". (She has said it every day since, too - because the balloons are STILL up!)
Cake....

Cake (and hats...)

Blowing out the candles... Neela blew her's out too fast, and then cried when she didn't have a candle to blow out. It was re-lit, but with lots of tears! We also didn't really want to share our cakes - but we did, after we got really big pieces!

Sampling the frosting...

... both on & off the cake (Grandma brought the extra just for us!).

Riding the frog from Heidi & Cory

Tutus from Grandma & Papa (made with help from Angie & Chelsea)

Princess dresses from Uncle Chuck

We modeled them with some of our friends at the party...

After the party, we crashed in the ball pit (it had play-do in for everyone to find!).

Brooke didn't find the play-do, but she did love the balls!

N-E-E-L-A

A short note... Neela is getting very good at spelling her own name. She came home from Tracy's in the car spelling her name using all 5 fingers -- N-E-E-L-A. She tried Kylie's name, but was not as successful.

She also managed to spell Minnesota when looking at Daddy's Minnesota Wild jacket. Daddy said she'd do quite well at the U of M - the fight song ends with the spelling of Minnesota! (Do you think he wants to pay in state tuition over having her be a Cyclone??)

Getting Ready for a Party

We've been waiting all week for our birthday party. Every day, we ask Mommy if our cakes will be here. Grandma G. is baking them - and she keeps sending us "progress pictures".

Kylie's cake is on the left - it is GREEN inside! Kylie asked Grandma for green :-)

The finished product - Kylie's is green (inside and out), and Neela's is blue (white on the inside) to match her eyes.

We want candles so we can blow them out on our cake, too!! We also want hats, goodie bags... Of course, we've been asking Grandma for cupcakes - but Mommy told Grandma she doesn't need to make cupcakes - two Doras is enough!
We also keep asking everyone what their favorite color is - because "My Grandma will make you a birthday cake that is your favorite color!"
And.. we keep asking if our "friends" are coming... Grandma, Papa, Heidi, Cory, Angie, Tony, Chuckie, David, Renee, Reardon, Dominique, Danielle... the list goes on and on!
