Brooke's Sitting Up!!

Brooke's favorite new trick is doing the "playboy" pose (a friend called it that), then rocking and rolling until she gets to a upright position! She loves to do this all day - find a toy (or object of her affection), army crawl or roll to it, then rock and roll up to sitting so she can play with it!

Daddy's Paradise

Daddy decided to have a picnic on the patio... The girls were not thrilled about using Mommy & Daddy's table instead of their little picnic table. Daddy told the girls "this is Daddy's paradise"... and Neela tells Daddy, "This whole house is Daddy's Paradise!" You just have to smile!!

Kylie and Neela are very into pretend right now. They love to play farm with their Little People Farm, and they even use Brooke's toys as parts of the farm. The farmer takes a nap, then wakes up the animals. The front door of our house is the door to the farm. Daddy has the "mumps" (no idea where they learned about mumps), and Neela's babies all need shots!

Kylie also seems to be out of her difficult stage - she is now making sure little Maya at daycare is included in everything - while Neela seems to be entering the difficult stage with accidents, pushing, climbing and not listening... oh the joys!!

Ma-ma-ma-ma-ma....

Brooke has been saying "Ba-ba-ba-ba" for about a week now... but, last night, at 2 AM, Brooke decided to try a new word... "Ma-ma-ma-ma-ma..." Mommy couldn't believe it! It made her smile so big - even though it was 2 AM. Tonight, when Daddy was getting her pajamas on, Brooke started to tell Daddy, "Ma-ma-ma-ma-ma."

Can you help but smile when Brooke's so cute??

In other Brooke news, Brooke had her first tastes of ice cream the last two weekends - one lick from Grandma & Papa E. at the hockey game, and one lick from Grandma & Papa G. at Aunt Angie's. Of course, this might explain some of the significant blow-outs the last two weeks -- but they also could have been caused by teething!

She also loves sitting up, finding toys, finding Cy's toys, pulling Cy's hair, rolling over AND trying to get up on all 4s! She's trying to figure out how to crawl, so it's probably only a matter of time!

Brooke also is very big into "Biter Biscuits", Gerber cheese puffs, Gerber puffs... and anything else she can put in her mouth herself! Maybe we'll have to try green beans this weekend :-)

A New Sandbox!!

Papa & Grandma G. came to visit last weekend. They helped us ride our bikes, play with our fishing poles, took us to Aunt Angie's house for pineapple pizza, took us to Angie's park for trains and ice cream, and bought us our birthday SANDBOX (at Papa's store)!!!

It was a great day to play outside - Brooke showed Grandma her new sunglasses from the Easter bunny!

Brooke's 7 Months Old!

Brooke really did NOT want to sit still to take her picture with her "going home" outfit, but you can see how much she's been growing!

Brooke's biggest news is she now has two teeth - one on Good Friday (April 2) and one on Easter Sunday (April 4). She's also FINALLY enjoying baby food - carrots, sweet potatoes, banana oatmeal cereal, and PUFFS!

Happy Easter!!

What a beautiful Easter weekend! We had some strong winds, but no rain, during our journey to Grandma & Papa's house in Sioux City.

Tracy's was closed on Thursday and Friday, so We left on Thursday night - after Bright Horizons. We had a lot of fun at Bright Horizons because our friends, Reardon, Julia & Rylan, were there with us. We ALL got to paint pictures (even Brooke!). Kylie painted a roller coaster, Neela painted polka dots, and Brooke just painted!

On Friday, Papa took the day off work to spend time with us. In the morning, Mommy & Papa took Kylie & Neela to Bomgaar's to see baby chickens. They were so cute - Papa took them out so we could pet them, and then we bought bird feed for his backyard. After that, we went to the pet store to buy Cy some treats and new toys for his birthday (he turned 7 on Easter Sunday). Papa bought some fish for his fish tank, too. Then, we headed to the Candy Store to see Grandma - and get our "little cakes". We got our "little cakes" and pretzels covered with chocolate and caramel - they were really good! Kylie ate all of her's in the store - and then made sure to bring a 3-pack of pretzels home for the "boys" (Daddy, Papa and Chuckie). In the afternoon, Papa took us to his "little gym" to go swimming. Mommy & Daddy took Brooke shopping and to the Candy Store.

Friday night, we all got to go to the "Wild" (Muskateers) hockey game. Of course, Grandma and Papa have to carry on Daddy's traditions - so we got popcorn AND ice cream. We also learned how to bang on the glass after EVERY Muskie's goal, met the mascot, and got waved at by the goalie. (Daddy says it's a good thing we don't have Wild tickets that close to the ice!)

Saturday, Grandma had to work again. Big Papa & Big Grandma came over to see us - and brought us Easter gifts. We got new princess purses, and Brooke got a princess wand. After lunch and a nap, we walked to the park with Mommy. We met a new little girl, went down the swirly and bumpy slides, played on the swings, played catch, then walked home. Of course, little girls "need lots of energy" and we didn't have much walking home. Mommy tried to carry two girls, then one girl from driveway to driveway, then one girl walked to the next driveway... next time, Mommy will remember her phone! When we got home, it was time to dye Easter eggs. We had so much fun! Neela dyed the eggs and her hands, Kylie was very patient and got bright colored eggs, and Brooke wanted to eat the newspaper under the eggs!!

We were all wearing our "My Uncle Rocks" and "My Aunt Rocks" shirts from Aunt Renee and Uncle David. Mommy told Kylie her shirt said "I love Chuckie". When Grandma asked Kylie if it also said "I love Chuckie AND Cory AND Tony AND David", Kylie said "No, just Chuckie -- all those words won't fit!!"

On Easter morning, we woke early to go to church. We got to put on our pretty dresses and hats!

Neela and Papa wrote a quick note to the Easter Bunny...

We gave Cy a birthday treat (Happy Birthday Cy - we can't believe you are 7 already!!)...

Here are a few of the things we learned in church:
"Where is baby Jesus?" He's on the statue over there.
That's grown-up Jesus with his friends. (Cue Papa - he's waving at you!) "Hi Jesus!"
"Why did you get a cracker and I didn't? I'm hungry, too!"
When reading the misselette, "This is the story of the 3 little pigs and the big, bad wolf..."
When it was time to sing, "Mommy, let's sing Mary had a Little Lamb".
When sprinkled with Holy Water, "Why is it raining in church?"

While we were at church, the Easter Bunny came out of the trees - and across the street - to Grandma & Papa's house. He hid the eggs we colored in the basement, our baskets in the basement, and some pretty eggs in the backyard. We loved finding our eggs in the basement - and didn't understand that we needed to look for the baskets, too. We went outside and found MORE eggs with money, stickers, candy, stamps and chalk in them!

Then, we came back in and found our baskets. We loved all the goodies - and Brooke seemed to enjoy pulling everything out of her's and modeling her sunglasses!

We helped Grandma peel the eggs - and ate the egg whites off our eggs (but we didn't care for the yolks). Uncle Chuckie found the raw egg Daddy dyed for him - he was happy he cracked it over the garbage can :-)

For lunch, Big Papa, Big Grandma, Little Grandma, Uncle John, Aunt Gertie... er... Trudi, Cory, Miranda, Dustin, Erika and Hunter came over. We enjoyed everything - especially the chocolate-covered peeps on the table, and the rolled pickles that Dustin made. Brooke and Hunter really seemed to enjoy having other "little people" around to play with!
Right before we hit the road, we got a chance to say Hi to Big Papa's sister Margaret and her family on the computer! It was great to see her getting better - and meet more family members.

Happy Easter!
