Spring Break 2014 - Klyde Warren Park

It was another sunny, warm day -- why would we choose to stay inside?  We heard of a park with lots of free activities in the heart of Dallas, over the top of a bridge, so... Klyde Warren - here we come!

Mom dressed us the same so it was easier to find us - it was a bonus we all wanted the same hair style!  So, the "Irish Princesses" headed to town...

First, we found a storyteller with bubbles!

Then, we found the Children's Park...

Mom didn't learn yesterday - she left our swimsuits at home.  It was warm, there was water to run through... we said we wouldn't lay down in it... well... clothes dry fast in the warm Texas sun!

Then, we ate lunch from a food truck - tacos, nachos and tortas...  took a few pictures...

(by Brooke!)

... checked out a croquet mallet...

....took some pictures in a tree...

...and headed for home to cool off in the pool!

After pool time and nap time, we headed out for dinner - 5 kids, 3 grown-ups... everyone did very well!  We all did so well - Mr. Josh let us do FIREWORKS in his backyard!  Snaps, GIANT sparklers and Roman candles!!!

Mommy isn't sure who was having more fun... the little kids or the BIG kids :-)

Spring Break 2014 - The Arboretum

Day 3... we spent at the Dallas Arboretum!  They had a "Dallas Blooms" festival going on - all kinds of tulips and spring flowers everywhere.  We really loved the giant peacocks made from flowers - purple flowers!

Next, we found giant "people-sized" bird houses made of many different materials, and based on children's books.

We wandered around - from one end of the arboretum to the other... finding water, flowers, paths, and anything else that caught our eyes.

After lunch at the "Two Sisters Cafe"...

...we enjoyed an afternoon in the Children's Garden and sunshine!

Two Peas in a Pod!

Fruit Art

Playing Games & Checking out the Garden Map
We tried out another life sized maze, and found the sword in the stone!

It directed us to the Fairy Garden - can you see it over our shoulder?

Then we learned about how caves, rocks, weather and the earth were formed!

Using the Sundial - it was 2:30 -- can you tell?

"The sun's a hot, hot star.  Mercury's hot too!
Venus is the brightest one, Earth's home to me and you...
Mars is the reddest one..."
On the way home, we stopped for ice cream - yummy!!

Then, it was time for Spring Break nails - Mommy promised we could have our nails done before we left Minnesota, and Ms. Kristen told us her favorite place to go!  We ended up with lots of patterns - some purple, some Irish... all cute!

Then... Mommy and Ms. Kristen made some fancy margaritas to have by the pool.  What else do you do on a warm Texas night?
