Spring Break 2014 - The Stockyards & BBQ

Our first full, non-driving day of Spring Break was spent at the Fort Worth Stockyards.  We arrived just in time to watch the morning longhorn drive around the square.

It wouldn't have been the same without a chance to SIT on a real longhorn!

Next, it was on to the human-size maze, to find the letters M-A-Z-E in "record time".  We didn't set any records, we had a few frustrated moments, but we did find all the letters - and we did "get out" at the end!

We wandered towards the Stockyard Station next...

We found some old cattle pens, some old gates, some old ramps, some old walkways... and checked them out.  We thought it would be fun to have an "animal experience", so we pretended we were cows!

Then, it was Mexican food for lunch before some shopping.

Kylie got herself a cowboy hat...

and Neela and Brooke found a new longhorn "big eye guy".  While Mommy looked around for a few minutes, Daddy and Josh took us to see the longhorns - and to the petting zoo.

We wondered down the street to learn a bit about being a cowboy...

...climb some trees...

..and wander further up the street past the shops, bars, restaurants and hotels...

Then, we headed for home after climbing on some big spurs and a large cowboy belt, petting a horse, and checking out Billy Bob's!

For dinner, we headed out for some true Texas BBQ... and we tried it all!  Brisket, ribs, chicken poppers, jalapeno sausage, jalapeno corn, corn on the cob, mud pies...  YUMMY!

At bedtime, we put some Texas roses in our hair... thanks to Ms. Kristen's big party!

Night Y'all!
