Kylie's Special Trip with Mommy

After we finished ice skating, Mommy and Daddy had something special in mind for Kylie!  She got to go to a Minnesota Wild game with Mommy!!

The game was pretty slow, but it got really exciting in the 3rd period!  The Wild scored a lot -- and Kylie got to practice her cheerleading moves.

It was a WILD time -- and Kylie enjoyed the WILD food (ice cream, hot dog, Mommy's pizza and popcorn).  She wants to know when her next "date" is!

Ice Skating - The Grand Finale

After 8 weeks of ice skating lessons, we learned quite a bit.  We had to demonstrate our ability to move on skates, and stand up after falling down.

"Bubble Gum" popping to push us backwards on our skates... shake your tail feathers!
Kylie was cautious and needed a little more coaching to build her confidence.  Neela showed "no fear" - but we both passed the class!

A big thank you to Aunt Angie, Mommy and Daddy for lacing up skates and coaching us on the ice... and for our audiences throughout the lessons :-)  We are turning into true Minnesota girls!

Thank you, Mommy!

We did not buy Mommy flowers on Valentine's Day -- we bought flowers on President's Day!

We each picked out 4 flowers for Mommy, and wrote her a note to thank her for the great birthday party.  Aren't they beautiful??  And... of course... we made sure lots of Mommy's favorite colors (red and pink) were in the vase!

Thank you, Mommy!

We want that sword!!

We love to play pirates in every way, shape and form.  Sometimes, we end up fighting over Brooke's sword - or using it as a weapon.  Daddy found a secret hiding spot when he takes the sword away... and we found the sword.  We TRIED very hard to get the sword down -- but somehow, we just couldn't stack things up high enough!

Our Big Firefighter Party!

We might have turned 5 yesterday, and had our surprise Disney trip from Mom & Dad, but we still wanted a birthday party!  The "princess" theme was covered in California, so we voted for a "fire" theme at home with our friends.... at Daddy's fire station!

We could not wait for the party - but we had to get ready.  We picked out new shirts, and Aunt Chelsea braided our hair.  We were sooo excited to have braids!

We had a big surprise to start our party.  Right after lunch, Mommy, Daddy and Uncle Tony came to pick us up in Daddy's fire truck!

We see the truck!!
Thank you, Daddy!
Climbing in...
Kylie's ready to ride!
When we got to the station, it was all decorated for our party -- balloons, streamers, tattoos, and our birthday cakes from Grandma Banana!!  Kylie requested a chocolate cake with red frosting, and Neela requested a strawberry cake with yellow frosting.  (Chocolate cake makes it difficult to frost, so Kylie ended up with white cake... but she didn't care - the frosting is her FAVORITE part of Grandma's cakes!!)

Neela sneaks some frosting!
We could not wait for our friends to get there -- we waited by the front door with Uncle Chuckie to let everyone in.

While everyone was arriving, we colored fire pictures and put on fire tattoos.  Then, we went out to explore the fire trucks and fire gear.  Everyone loved climbing in and out of the trucks, checking out all the gadgets, gauges and gear!

Daddy even let all of our friends try on his uniform!  Of course, we tried it on, too :-)
Kylie
Neela
Brooke
The next big surprise... Daddy and Papa Lollipapa took all of our friends - and us - for rides on the fire truck.
Brooke did NOT like the sirens!!
Finally... it was time!  Time to EAT CAKE! (or... better stated... eat frosting!!)

While everyone finished their cake, we did a little freeze dancing :-)

The last event of the party was the balloon and beach ball drop.  Aunt Angie, Aunt Chelsea and Daddy dropped all of them from the fire station loft.  (It's a good thing Guggisberg's have a lot of hot air... they inflated a lot of balloons and beach balls!!  That includes those who married into the family, too!)

Sometime after the balloon drop - as guests were leaving - Brooke decided she'd had a little too much excitement :-)

We cleaned up, and headed home to do some more celebrating.  We opened a few gifts upstairs...

... while Brooke held court with all the Aunts and Uncles at the party downstairs.  She showed them how to build her rocket ship with the couches (thank you, Aunt Angie).  They all climbed aboard...

...then Brooke consulted her map to show everyone how to get to "Mickey Mars" in the rocket ship.  We never made it there because Brooke had to keep getting "supplies" for the trip.

The highlight at the end of the night was our new "Just Dance Kids" game from Daddy.  We loved playing Brandon's games on New Year's Eve -- now we have our own!

Thank you everyone for the fantastic birthday party!

Countdown to "5"...

We don't slow down much... and this week was no different!  We knew our 5th birthday was fast approaching, and the week went a lot like the week before we were born!

On Sunday, we went to church - then headed back to Guardian Angels for "Daddy & Me" Day.  It was a sports-themed day, full of all kinds of sports to try!  We dressed up in our favorite sports' team gear (Kylie wore Steelers, Neela wore Wild, Daddy wore Penguins to 'balance' his girls!)... and had a lot of fun with Daddy!

While we were with Daddy, Mommy and Brooke headed to Aunt Angie's house for "girl time".  They played with every ball in Angie's house, then went to the Java Train for more play time... and some ice cream!!

On Monday, Mommy figured out we were growing up way too fast!  As if approaching our 5th birthday wasn't bad enough, we had Kindergarten Enrollment Night at Middleton Elementary.  We loved the classrooms, wanted to know which one was our's, talked to some teachers, the pricipal... Mommy and Daddy got asked a million times if we wanted to be in class together or separate (Kylie wants to be separate, Neela wants to be together -- is lunch / recess together a goood compromise?).  We also learned the school has 800 students in K-5... that's WAY more than Mommy's entire K-12 school had!  We cannot wait for classes to start on September 6th!

Tuesday was Valentine's Day!  We had fun making cookies at Tracy's, making cards for Mommy and Daddy, and then had a Valentine supper at home - a heart-shaped pizza from Grandma Banana and Papa Pizza!  Mommy & Daddy got us heart-shaped balloons, Mommy got Daddy some new soap and a "puff"... :-)

Wednesday was our "slow" night of the week.  We didn't do much of anything, except count the days until our birthday!

On Thursday, Mommy and Daddy took a little break to go to the Wild / Jets hockey game, and we got to play with Dominique!  We aren't sure who had more fun - the game was pretty wild... Of course, when they got home, Mommy did a LOT of cleaning and decorating to make sure we were not disappointed when we woke up... she set our expectations pretty high for birthdays!

Friday... it's finally here!  We are 5!!!!  For those who can remember, it's hard to believe how fast 5 years went... remember those incubators??  We don't need them!  We loved our special decorations... we went to Tracy's for a little bit, then to Little Angels.  We both had special jobs for our birthday - Neela was the worm girl (feeding the scraps to the worms in the compost bowl), and Kylie was the energy star!  We even had birthday stickers :-)  Mommy showed up for lunch - and took us home early afterwards.  When we got home, Papa Pizza was at our house waiting for us... we picked up Brooke, and spent the afternoon with Papa... he even went grocery shopping with us, and pointed out all the doughnuts, cookies, and "sometimes" foods he could find!!

He did find some princess cookies - and since we aren't having our cakes until our party, we made cookies for dessert.  They had glass slippers and everything!

And... who says you can't put a candle in a cookie??  We did... several times... and for everyone!

Instead of "Happy Birthday", we sang "In Heaven there is No Beer" to Papa, and "Jake & The Neverland Pirates" to Brooke... it's not THEIR birthday!

We even got a few small presents for our birthday... our biggest present was our California trip, but Brooke did a little shopping for us.  She found us new princess PJ's, and helped us open them too!  Kylie got Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty, and Neela got Rapunzel and Minnie (to match her ears!).

Just so Brooke had more fun... she even got new PJs... Jake & the Neverland Pirates!!  And the "Jolly Rogers" pants to match!

Happy Birthday to our Little Angels!  We love you both so much - and can't imagine our lives without you!  You make every day special :-)
