Cheerleading Finale

We spent 10 weeks in cheerleading camp - and our big finale was April 27.  Mommy, Daddy and Brooke came to watch everything we learned.

First, we did a couple cheers - then a dance routine.

When we were all done, we got medals - just like "Little Gym".  We are very proud of our medals!

Dance Routine:

At the end of the dance routine, the mommies also joined in.  Daddy thought it was hilarious, Brooke wanted to dance, and Mommy had flashbacks to high school!

Easter at the Farm

We celebrated Easter at Grandma Banana and Papa Pizza's farm.  As usual, it's always icky and rainy when we get there - but we managed to make the most of things.

Friday morning, we headed to Grandma's bike shop.  It was time for Kylie and Neela to get bigger bikes.  They picked out their own - Kylie's is pink with polka dots, and Neela's is purple with ribbons.  They tested them out all over the store before they pedaled them down the street to the van.  Brooke was looking at striders, and we quickly realized she could keep one of the big girls' "little bikes" and practice with that.  Then, we went out for lunch with Papa, and headed back to the farm for play time.

We LOVE our playhouse - and found all kinds of pies, cookies and goodies to "bake" for our visitors.

After the playhouse, we headed to the barn.

We were searching for the chickens Papa made sure Brooke had for her first Easter at the farm.  Brooke initially loved them, but didn't think too much of them after about 2 minutes.

For once, Neela loved the animals, too!  Kylie and Neela spent hours out with the chickens... feeding them, watering them, holding them, dropping them, naming them...  They couldn't get enough!

Of course, a visit to the barn isn't complete without climbing on Papa's tractor.  All 3 girls enjoyed climbing up and "driving", but did NOT like it when Papa started up the tractor -- "TOO LOUD!"

Everyone else arrived on Friday night, so Saturday was time to dye Easter eggs.  Kylie and Neela really enjoyed the challenge of the eggs - and made many, many colors.  They also made a few coffee filter decorations just to use up some more of the color!  Brooke only wanted to work with Uncle Tony on her eggs.  The eggs were the opposite of the baby chicks!  At first, she didn't know what to think.... after a few minutes, she was very entertained by them!

Grandma, Kylie, Neela & Angie

We must have been crazy, but we got the girls all dressed up for Saturday night mass.  They looked beautiful in their purple dresses and hats.  (Did we mention they loved playing the piano too -- especially when someone was sleeping???)

Brooke slept with Grandma and Papa - Sunday, she was up before everyone.  As she walked out to the porch with Papa, she saw an egg on top of the clock.  She looked at Papa very surprised, and said "Egg?".  Then, she started looking a bit more - and it turned into "Egg, Egg, Egg".  She'd pick them up, look at them, and hide them again!  Grandma didn't want Mommy to miss out, so Brooke showed Mommy a few hiding spots - then brought over an egg to "open" it.  After we opened it, Brooke tried a bite - then gave the rest to Papa... guess it wasn't as much fun opened!

Before the big girls got up, Brooke had all her eggs lined up!
Kylie and Neela were also THRILLED to look for eggs!  They started the instant they woke up - and didn't ever stop!  Once they found all the eggs - they kept putting them in their baskets to carry around.  We had to take the eggs away before all the shells were cracked.  Grandma made a lot of eggs - so we all would have been eating a lot of eggs!

Neela's Purple Basket
After the girls found their baskets, all the grown-ups were looking for their's.  (Brooke woke Uncle Tony up with "Cockadoodledooooo!" and scared him!!  Not sure who jumped higher -- Tony or Brooke!)  Of course, Grandma told Neela you couldn't help anyone find their basket - so she wouldn't tell anyone where they could find their goodies... Kylie was a little more helpful :-)

We had a giant breakfast, then everyone got dressed up to go outside.  The girls enjoyed every minute of looking for their eggs outside...

They had money, fruit snacks, bouncy balls, mardi gras beads... Rollie (Heidi and Cory's new puppy) ended up with more beads than any of the girls! Rollie likes to bark, so Brooke was trying to make him happy. On the way home, we asked Brooke who barked. Normally, it's a puppy or Cy. This time, it was "Rollie". After thinking a few seconds, then "Rudy", then "Cy". Cy didn't make the trip this time - we thought Rudy should get acclimated to the girls before we threw another dog in the mix!

Leaving the farm was bittersweet for Mommy...  Grandma and Papa have moved to Fargo, and we aren't quite sure when we will get to visit the farm again.  Daddy took some pictures for Mommy in front of our playhouse.  Grandma painted the signs with our names on them a while ago, and Papa spent half a winter converting the grainbin into our playhouse.

We can't wait to visit Grandma and Papa at their new house with the elevator -- and as Grandma's sign says, "Change is not the end of the road, it's the bend in the road... Unless you fail to make the turn!"

Fargo, here we come!

A Fire Station Birthday Party

Our friend, Jack, celebrated his 5th birthday at Daddy's fire station.  Daddy played host - he found hats for all the guests, gave fire station tours, and even took all the kids on fire truck rides (and a few parents, too!).

Mommy tried to help the other parents, but managed to get a few cute pictures of us...

Remember when we were babies and took pictures in Daddy's boots?  Neela wanted nothing to do with it, but Kylie and Brooke were supermodels!

We Totally Rock!

Rock band... Kylie & Neela style!

The Newest Edition of "Stuff Kids Say"

Our baby has started to talk up a storm - and most of the time, you can understand her...  You know, she does have two sisters - and a lot of extended family - to keep up with!  Here are a few of Brooke's latest antics:
  • Up
  • Down
  • Open
  • Blankie
  • Baby
  • More Milk Please - Thank You (and all the sign language that goes with it)
  • Diaper
  • Balloon
  • Share / Turn (hmmm...)
  • Show - Gabba Gabba (when riding in Mommy's car)
  • Yogurt - and she'll try to get it out of the refridgerator
  • CHEESE (every time the camera is out)
  • Clap - especially when she wants everyone to "clap" because she took a bite of her supper
  • Come on - and she'll pat her leg... do you think she's observed Cy a bit too much?
  • Hand, as in "hold my hand".
  • Grandma (FINALLY, at least finally, if you ask her grandmothers!)
  • Not to be forgotten, Brooke has also clearly stated the name of every Aunt & Uncle!
  • Wrong Way (as in "Papa, you're going the WRONG WAY!")
  • No matter how hard we try, Brooke will NOT say "Neela".  If you ask her to say "Neela", she says "Kylie".  If you ask her to say "Kylie", she says "Kylie".  Go figure!   She will say "Stubborn!" :-)
  • "I Love You": Another display of stubborness - if you ask Brooke to say "I love you", she says "Nope".  She only gives in when she is very tired... otherwise, she says "Nope", and laughs!
  • On our way through St. Paul, Neela asked where we were.  I told her "St. Paul" - Brooke said "Ball".  Then Neela asked if this is where she saw the princesses, and I said "No, that was Minneapolis" - Brooke responded with "Apple".  So, to Brooke, it's not "St. Paul & Minneapolis" - it's "Ball & Apple".
Brooke's also getting pretty good at her animals - lions (and ROAR), frogs, bunny (hop, hop), cow (moo), pig, chicken (cluck, cluck), duck (quack, quack), giraffe, hippo, monkey, turtle...  And her body parts - she loves to show you her chin, cheeks, eyes, tongue and toes!

So, if Brooke is learning so many words - what are the big girls up to?  Here are a few of the new words Kylie is coming up with:
Stegasaurus - "He's the one with the spikes on his back"
Hypothesis - "A hypothesis is an idea you can test."
Technology - "Did you know XYZ is technology?" (this includes the fan in the bathroom!)
Detergent - "Mom, can we put some detergent on this stain so it will come right out?"
Force Flex - "Mom, this garbage bag has Force Flex so it won't tear"

I think Kylie is a sponge when it comes to new words and phrases - and it's pretty obvious when she says them!

Together, the twins are telling us about:
Skeleton, Bones, Elbow - "The bones in your body are part of your skeleton"
Muscles - "The muscles are on top of your bones"
Doctors - Kylie decided she wanted to be a doctor, she just doesn't know if she wants to be a small doctor, medium doctor or large doctor (this after Mommy explained that the size of her bones will determine how tall she is).  Then, Neela decided she wants to be a doctor, too...

The best line in the last few weeks... "Grandma doesn't live in a house, she lives in a barn" - this when Neela was telling Angie she couldn't wait to go to Grandma's farm for Easter.  Probably a mix up on the fact there's a barn on Grandma's farm - it still came out hilarious!

Cleaning Lady

Mommy and Daddy turned around one day to find Brooke "ceaning" the window...
She even went looking for a paper towel to wipe it down!

Happy 8th Birthday, Cy!

Cy turned 8!!!

We wanted to celebrate with a doggy cake, presents, balloons and streamers... we even thought Grandma Banana should make Cy a cake like she makes us!  Mommy convinced us Cy would enjoy some new toys and a few extra treats.  BUT, we did put on pretty dresses for Cy's party!

Eating Snow

It snowed ... again... and we really wanted to eat some!  Mom did not want us to stay outside and eat the snow, so she brought some inside for us to taste... We may want the snow to melt, but we LOVE snow!

Roller Girls

Each night, we wish for all the snow to melt... and it's finally getting nice enough out to try out a few of our summer toys.  We broke out our roller skates - and headed down the block to Brandon's house!

Neela likes them for a while, but will swap them for her bike.  Kylie will went up and down the block about 10 times before taking a break!  She's persistent when she puts her mind to it!
