Another crazy weekend that started with 15 month doctor appointments! Neela has finally passed Kylie up on the scale, weighing in at 24 lbs, 4 oz. Kylie was 23 lbs, 9 oz. Neela is almost as much bigger than Kylie now as Kylie was when they were born. They are both the same height, but Kylie's head was 1/2 cm larger :-) Must be all that thinking she's doing!! They have a few 18 months pants that fit, but mostly are still hanging out in 12 month bottoms and 12 or 18 month tops.
I started to make a list of all the words the girls are saying...
As Kylie would say... "Here you go" (yes, she DOES say it!)... Miss Kylie says...
Mine, No (her two favorite right now!), hi, bye, Mom, Mommy, Dad, Daddy, Papa, puppy, baby, woof woof, moo, tickle tickle, belly, night night, nose, toes, where'd it go?, hop hop, bubble, pop pop, doobie do, pretty and ball (at least, as of this very instant!)
Miss Neela prefers to walk around and babble a lot - as Brad said tonight, "Wouldn't you love to know what she's saying when she's so insistent? or so happy?" For now, we'll stick with hi, bye, Mom, Dad, All Done, hop hop, no no, uh oh... Grandpa G. swears she said Grandpa this weekend, and I thought I heard "Angie", too.
Our other fine accomplishments for Kylie in the last week... Kylie learned to "wink" - if you close your eyes, she'll close her eyes. Kylie spent a LONG time looking for Papa's belly button - and found it! She has practiced standing for up to 30 seconds, and Sandy swears she stood for a "long" time in the middle of the playroom today. She also has had trouble sleeping - we think her molar might be arriving - but did sleep all night last night.
For Neela... I asked Neela if she was sleepy in the bathtub, she tried to lay down and go to sleep! So, now when you say "sleepy, sleepy", she'll lay down! I know one of Sandy's kids was teaching her that - I just didn't know she had it figured out. Even though Neela is not talking, she knows a lot of things to do. She will bring you the bottle of lotion, and rub her belly. If you give her a comb, she'll brush her hair. Tonight, she found a pair of sandals I had bought her - brought them to the living room - and sat down and tried to put them on! She also likes to unzip her jacket, and she and Kylie can ALWAYS tell you where their blankies are! The most amazing one... I was putting dishes in the dishwasher, and Brad was talking to Great-Grandpa... Neela came downstairs, walked up to the front door, pulled down the handle, opened the door (about this time, I got Brad's attention), banged on the front glass, and then closed the door. I guess it's time to start using the deadbolt when we aren't looking!
On Saturday, we went to a bridal shower for my cousin, Anna. The girls were starlets - as usual! The booth enjoyed the quiche (better than Aunt Angie!), and Kylie ate ALL of my creme brulee (I had to get a second bowl!!). On Sunday, we did a lot of landscaping projects and got our flowers planted - thanks to Uncle Tony, Aunt Angie, Papa and Grandma G. Of course, Papa and Grandma G. somehow disappeared to the backyard with Kylie and Neela - but that left a lot less "watching" and a lot more "working" for the rest of us :-) Unfortunately, it was not soon enough - Neela managed to climb out of her wagon and hit her head - she now sports a very cute butterfly bandage. Papa also taught Kylie and Neela how unimportant socks and shoes are -- if you don't wear them, you can climb up the slide all by yourself! Of course, if you don't wear them and you crawl across the deck (like Kylie did), you end up with 11 splinters in your foot. (The Children's hospital website said to leave superficial ones alone -- so they are working their way out until Kylie tells me otherwise!)
On top of our busy weekend, Uncle David and Aunt Renee moved into their new house in California! Yeah! They called from their pile of boxes on Saturday -- homeowners at last! Uncle Cory spent the weekend making his own patio in Omaha, and Aunt Heidi is somewhere in China... never a dull moment, even without the nieces around!
Everyone's gone for now... and we have no company scheduled for the weekend... We thank everyone for their help with all of our yard projects (Tony, Angie, Papa, Grandma G., Grandpa E., Grandma E., and Uncle Chuck) -- you can't really tell two toddlers live here (on the outside!).
