Sioux City Travels

It's fall... it's October... that means two things... it's MEA break for Minnesota school kids and it's time for the Deer Run Chili Feed Golf Tournament in Sioux City... so, it's time for a road trip!

We drove to Sioux City on Thursday night after work.  Friday, we started with breakfast and then, a trip to the Candy Store!  We picked our little cakes from the box, Grandma boxed them up, Grandma told us to save them for her house... so... we ran to the corner, and ate them while no one was watching!!

Then, Big Papa came to visit... Brooke enjoyed playing "tea party" with Big Papa... and Big Papa enjoyed watching all of us "Just Dance" on the Wii :-)

That night, we headed to the Muskateers... We love hockey, and we love the Muskateers - especially when the Wild are not playing... We got to spend time with Chuckie...

... and... pound the glass when the Muskies scored...

... and eat ice cream... and eat popcorn... because Grandma loves to buy us snacks at games :-)

The next morning, it was time to check out the hot tub.  We LOVE Grandma and Papa's hot tub, and spent a lot of time in the hot tub that morning...

In the afternoon, Kylie and Neela got to golf with Daddy, Papa Lollipapa and Uncle Chuckie.  Brooke went to a birthday party for "Pickle Christy" with Grandma and Mommy.  Then, Uncle Cory came to visit, too!  We went to the candy store, then played Wii at Grandma and Papa's house.  When Cory left, Mommy and Daddy went out for dinner with Matt and Jaime, Grandma and Papa went to a Muskies game, and Uncle Chuckie babysat us :-)  We had him wrapped around our finger... new Madagascar movie... snacks... treats... :-)

On Sunday, the boys went golfing... and we went to the pumpkin patch.  This pumpkin patch had so many cool things to do!

First, we tried out the "bugs"...

... then, we ran through the straw maze...
It was short, so we could see, but it still took us a little while to figure it out.  Brooke figured it out by following Neela... then Kylie... but we all got out :-)

Next, we went to the grain bin... filled with corn... to dig...

...and on to the "big bikes"... Mommy and Grandma rode the bikes with us.  Riding with us was pretty tough - then saw other grown-ups pushing the bikes... Those other grown-ups must have been there before!

Our next stop was more straw!  Straw swings...

... straw towers...

Posing with Grandma and pumpkins...
Posing with Mommy
They even had a ride on straw bales, behind a tractor, all around the pumpkin patch and corn maze...

Neela had been waiting, and waiting, and waiting to ride behind the train... and she finally got her chance!  We all climbed into the same seat, buckled up, and smiled really big as we took off.

Finally, we were able to pick our pumpkins!  The pumpkin patch had been dry throughout the summer, so they "planted" pumpkins in a big field.  We had a blast looking for our pumpkin selections...

Neela helped Brooke when she found a "really big one"...
They had to "roll it" to get it to a place where Mommy could pick it up.

By the time we left, we all had really big pumpkins to take home.

Kylie enjoyed pulling the pumpkins across the patch, but she did not want to pull them up the really big hill to pay for them... or across the rocky parking lot to load them in the car... that's what Mom's are for!

We ate McDonald's for lunch, went back to Grandma and Papa's to get Cy, then went to visit Big Grandma and Big Papa.  We decorated all the pavers in their backyard with artwork... their walk to the shed will be much more colorful for a few weeks!

Then, Daddy said he was "almost done," so we headed to the golf course.  When we got there, we could not find Daddy.  Mommy bought us some peanuts and some chips to keep us entertained...

... and we ventured out to the Hole #1 tee box... just to keep an eye on things.

When Daddy got done, we headed for home...
It was a fun weekend, a little bit of a late night, and an early Monday morning on the school bus :-)
